FAQs

Here is a compiled list of some FAQs that people have regarding Trinity. Please feel free to reach out to us if you want us to update this list. It will make it better for all future students with the same question! Also, check out the Trin Handbook, which has more answers. 

What are High Table Dinners?

High Table Dinners are formal dinners that happen every Wednesday night at 6:30pm. High Tables are unique because students wear gowns (available for rental from the Welcome Desk) and Professors and Trinity Administration frequently attend. 

Where can I get Academic Gowns/Robes?

Information on purchasing an academic gown can be found here. For those who feel that they will be using a gown not that frequently can rent a gown from the Welcome Desk for free. You just need your T- Card! Please note that the supply of academic gowns at the Welcome Desk are limited but usually don't run out. 

What are some great studying spots in Trinity?

All of the following study spaces are open to students' use. The classrooms TC22 and TC24 in Trin Proper are great silent study  spaces. The JCR is also used by some students for studying however it is not a *silent* space. There are multiple study spaces in St. Hilda's College. Melinda Seamen is a great space with large tables and sofas that is used by many people for studying. Adams Room and Steadman Library are quiet study spaces that are also used by students throughout the year. 

How do I get reimbursed for the club expenditure that I have incurred?

If your spending has been approved, please submit the TCM reimbursement form found here and under "important documents". Message the TCM treasurer if you have any questions. See the TCM documents for more information on College spending.

How can I learn more about the TCM?

The TCM is the "Trinity College Meeting". It is a direct democracy and serves as our student government structure. Information about the TCM can be found in the Student Handbook, "Trinity College Meeting", and "Important Documents". The best way to learn more is to come to a TCM, which take place on Monday nights. Meeting dates can be found on the TCM Facebook page or TCM Google Drive. We look forward to seeing you there!

How do I submit to TrinThisWeek?

Use the online form! (http://tinyurl.com/TrinThisWeek) If you submit a poster we will print it for you!

What are Strachan Hall meal timings? What are they serving?

Information about Dining at Trin can be found on the here. Menus can be found on the Chartwell Dining website, which is linked through the Trinity College Website. 

What are Buttery Bucks?

The Buttery is separate from the student dining plan, with different food offerings. Buttery Bucks can be purchased by Trinity students, in $50 increments, from the Office of the Dean of Students, at a discounted rate and can be used at a one-to-one dollar value in the Buttery, using your T-Card. Buttery Bucks are non-refundable but can be carried over from year to year. More information here.

Is there a locker facility for commuters to store their stuff?

Lockers are available on a first come, first served basis.  The fee is $30 per year ($25 for renewals) and may be obtained by visiting the Office of the Dean of Students, located on the first floor of St. Hilda's College at 44 Devonshire Place. Find more information about the lockers here

How do I sign up for Trinity Intramurals?

Information on what intramurals are offered can be found here. Trinity College intramurals are managed by the Trinity College Athletic Association (TCAA) and posts will be going up on the Facebook page as teams are created. Registration to the intramural teams and scoring is all managed through imleagues.

Can I use Common Rooms even if I don't live on that floor?

Absolutely, YES! Please do :) These spaces are for all Trinity College Students, including non-residence students. Non-residence even have their own dedicated common room (NRAC), located at the back of Melinda Seaman hall at St. Hildas. If you are part of the a club, you can coordinate with the Head's team to use the space for an event!

What’s a T-Card? Where do I get it?  

T-Cards are your official University of Toronto student ID card. They are used for swiping for meals, signing out library resources, entering the gyms and other buildings, booking study rooms, signing up for Health and Wellness appointments, as identification in exams, and for many more purposes (show your T-Card at Shoppers or Metro for a discount!). You can get a T-Card at the T-Card Office, located in the Koffler Student Centre. For office hours and required documents, please use this link

Can I order Amazon deliveries to my residence? 

Yes, you can! Make sure to indicate your name on the shipping address. The Welcome Desk will email you when the package has arrived. You will need your ID or T-Card to pick it up. For students living at St. Hilda's, please send the package to Trinity Proper (6 Hoskin Ave, Toronto Ontario M5S 1H8), as this is the only building that accepts package deliveries/mail.
